ERGIL Expands Semiconductor Industry Focus at UltraFacility Conference 2026 in Phoenix

The rapid expansion of semiconductor manufacturing is creating a new generation of highly demanding industrial facilities. Behind every semiconductor fab is an extensive infrastructure of ultrapure water, wastewater treatment, chemical handling, process utilities, storage systems and supporting structures — all of which require specialized engineering, materials and fabrication capabilities.

Over recent years, ERGIL has become increasingly involved in semiconductor facility projects, working alongside international water-treatment, technology and engineering companies responsible for these critical systems.

ERGIL’s experience in the semiconductor industry has developed through the design, engineering and fabrication of equipment and infrastructure required around the manufacturing process rather than the semiconductor production equipment itself.

For a major semiconductor manufacturing project in Dresden, Germany, ERGIL has been involved in the manufacture and delivery of large industrial storage tanks and associated structural equipment, including elevated steel structures, platforms, walkways and specialized sludge-handling equipment.

These projects require much more than conventional steel fabrication. Semiconductor facilities demand strict material control, extensive documentation, high fabrication quality, traceability and careful coordination between equipment manufacturers, process technology suppliers, EPC contractors and site installation teams.

This experience has allowed ERGIL to better understand the requirements of semiconductor fab construction and, particularly, the needs of companies designing ultrapure water, industrial wastewater and chemical utility systems.

ERGIL’s strategy is not to compete with ultrapure-water or process-technology specialists. Instead, the company aims to become the engineering and fabrication partner behind their technology.

A process company may provide the system design and process know-how, while ERGIL can engineer, manufacture, assemble and test the physical equipment required to turn that design into an operating industrial system.

This includes the fabrication of carbon steel and stainless steel pressure vessels, corrosion-resistant rubber-, FRP- and GRP-lined equipment, large storage tanks and engineered process vessels. ERGIL is also developing its role in the supply of integrated skid-mounted and modular process equipment, where vessels, piping, valves, instrumentation and structural steel can be assembled and tested before shipment to the semiconductor site.

The same manufacturing approach extends to structural modules and pipe-rack systems used to connect increasingly complex fab utility infrastructure.

Corrosion resistance is particularly important in semiconductor facility infrastructure because of the chemicals, wastewater streams and specialized process conditions involved.

ERGIL’s capabilities in rubber lining, FRP/GRP lining, stainless steel fabrication and stainless steel cladding allow equipment to be engineered around the service conditions rather than relying on a single standard construction method.

Combined with its experience in ASME-certified pressure equipment, engineered-to-order fabrication and complex international project execution, these capabilities enable ERGIL to support technology providers across a broad range of semiconductor utility applications.
