Ergil Completes Custom Vessel for Aerodynamic Testing Tunnel

Ergil has recently finished the fabrication and factory acceptance testing of a multi-section pressure vessel that will form the core of a new aerodynamic testing tunnel in the United Kingdom.

Project highlights

• Twenty-metre overall length assembled from segmental shells rolled, welded, and machined in-house for tight alignment tolerances.
• Full-penetration circumferential welds inspected by ultrasonic and radiographic methods to ensure leak-free operation under variable pressure regimes.
• Three-coat epoxy system applied to all interior and exterior surfaces to protect against humidity-driven corrosion during frequent flow-conditioning cycles.

From the first CAD layout to the final hydrostatic proof test, Ergil’s engineering and production teams worked in lockstep to meet demanding dimensional and performance criteria. The completed vessel shipped on schedule and is now being integrated into its new laboratory home, where it will support advanced aerodynamic and fluid-dynamics research for years to come.
