Drain Systems
Drain Tank
Centralized Collection for Plant-Wide Drainage Systems
Drain tanks provide atmospheric or low-pressure storage for collecting general liquid drains from multiple plant systems including equipment washdowns, utility drains, process spills, safety shower discharges, and routine maintenance drainage. These tanks serve as central collection points before liquids are transferred to treatment facilities, disposal systems, or process recovery units.
ERGIL Tank Design and Manufacturing
With over 40 years of storage tank expertise and a 40,000 m² manufacturing facility in Mersin, Turkey, ERGIL designs and fabricates custom drain tanks to API 650, API 620, and ASME standards. Our in-house engineering team utilizes 3D modeling software to optimize tank sizing, nozzle placement, and internal configuration for your specific drainage requirements.
ERGIL manufactures drain tanks in both shop-fabricated and field-erected configurations. Our facility features automated welding equipment, CNC plasma cutting, shot-blasting systems, and dedicated fabrication halls for carbon steel and stainless steel construction. Complete in-house capabilities eliminate coordination issues and ensure superior quality control from design through final testing.
Design Features and Configuration
Drain tanks are typically designed as atmospheric vessels (API 650) or low-pressure vessels up to 15 psig (API 620) depending on system requirements. ERGIL provides complete engineering including:
Structural Design: Proper sizing for maximum drainage flow rates with adequate surge capacity. Foundation and anchorage calculations considering earthquake and wind loads specific to installation location.
Internal Components: Baffle plates to prevent turbulence and foam formation, oil-water separation weirs where required, sloped bottoms for complete drainage, anti-vortex devices at pump suctions, and ladder/platform access for inspection and maintenance.
Instrumentation Integration: Level measurement systems (float switches, radar, or ultrasonic), high-level alarms, overflow protection, pressure/vacuum relief provisions, and sample connections for liquid monitoring.
Material Selection: Carbon steel (SA-516 Grade 70) for general drainage, stainless steel (304, 316L) for corrosive liquids, internal coatings and linings where chemical resistance is required, and external protective coating systems for harsh environments.
ERGIL Manufacturing Advantages
Complete In-House Capability: Unlike suppliers who outsource components, ERGIL controls the entire fabrication process including specialized internals, tank appurtenances (manholes, nozzles, drains), and structural supports. This ensures quality consistency and eliminates vendor coordination delays.
Advanced Fabrication Technology: Automated submerged arc welding for shell courses, CNC plasma cutting for precise nozzle reinforcement pads, shot-blasting and painting systems with temperature-controlled curing, and in-house hydrostatic testing facilities.
Quality Certifications: ERGIL maintains ISO 9001:2015 quality management, ISO 14001 environmental standards, ASME U and S stamps for pressure vessels, CE marking for European compliance, and API 650/620 compliance with third-party inspection services available.
Turnkey Solutions: Complete package supply including tank fabrication, pump systems, piping assemblies, instrumentation panels, structural supports, and ladder/platform access. Skid-mounted or permanent installation options suit different project requirements.
Applications Across Industries
Petrochemical Plants: Equipment washdown collection, pump seal flush drainage, sample station drains, and process spill containment
Refineries: Unit drainage systems, turnaround washwater collection, maintenance fluid recovery, and contaminated runoff storage
Chemical Processing: Reactor area drains, laboratory waste collection, floor drain sumps, and emergency containment
Oil & Gas Facilities: Production platform drains, compressor station drainage, pipeline maintenance liquids, and well servicing fluid recovery
Power Plants: Turbine hall drainage, boiler washdown collection, chemical treatment spills, and cooling water system drains
