GLYCOL DEHYDRATION UNIT
Complete TEG Systems for Natural Gas Water Removal
ERGIL manufactures packaged glycol dehydration units that remove water vapor from natural gas using triethylene glycol absorption, ensuring pipeline dew point specifications, preventing hydrate formation, and protecting downstream equipment from corrosion. These skid-mounted systems deliver reliable gas treatment for production facilities, gathering systems, and processing plants.
System Components
Complete packages include contactor tower where gas contacts lean glycol through structured packing or trays, glycol circulation pump, glycol-glycol heat exchanger recovering thermal energy, flash separator removing dissolved hydrocarbons, regenerator column with reboiler providing heat for water removal, reflux condenser minimizing glycol losses, glycol storage, instrumentation, and PLC control panel. Factory-assembled skids arrive tested with all piping, electrical systems, and safety devices ready for rapid installation.
Dehydration Process
Wet gas enters the contactor bottom flowing upward through packing while lean glycol enters at top flowing downward. Glycol absorbs water vapor through chemical affinity producing dry gas exiting overhead, typically achieving water content below 7 lbs/MMSCF with dew points to -40°C meeting pipeline requirements. Rich glycol saturated with water flows to regeneration where reboiler heat at 190-205°C drives off absorbed moisture, reconcentrating glycol to 98.5-99% for continuous reuse.
Capacity and Applications
Systems handle 1-100 MMSCFD gas flow with operating pressures 300-1500 psig across wellhead installations, gathering facilities, gas processing plants, and pipeline inlet conditioning. Suitable for sweet or sour gas service with proper material selection. Proven technology serves upstream production, midstream transmission, and industrial applications requiring consistent gas dehydration performance.
Control and Automation
PLC systems manage glycol circulation rates, reboiler temperature, level controls, and safety interlocks automatically. Temperature and pressure monitoring throughout system optimizes performance. Differential pressure indicators across contactor packing signal maintenance requirements. Remote monitoring provides operational data supporting predictive maintenance. Simplified interface enables reliable operation with minimal training.
Energy Efficiency
Heat integration between hot lean and cold rich glycol reduces reboiler fuel consumption by 25-40% improving operating economics. Flash separator removes hydrocarbons preventing unnecessary heating in regenerator. Optimized packing design achieves specification with minimal glycol circulation lowering pump energy and heat duty while maintaining consistent water removal efficiency.
Design Standards
Equipment per ASME Section VIII, API 12J for packaged dehydration units, and applicable codes with full pressure vessel certification. Materials selected for glycol service and gas composition including sour service per NACE requirements. Explosion-proof electrical systems for hazardous classification. Complete documentation includes process guarantees, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, operating procedures, and maintenance guidelines.
Performance Features
Achieves consistent low dew points protecting pipelines from liquid water and hydrate formation. Reliable proven absorption technology with decades of field application. Minimal maintenance requirements beyond periodic glycol filtration and makeup. Modular designs accommodate capacity expansion or relocation. Weather-protected enclosures for outdoor installations across diverse climates.
