GAS FILTER SEPARATOR (COALESCER)

Two-Stage Gas Purification System

ERGIL manufactures gas filter separators with coalescing technology providing two-stage purification removing solid particles and liquid aerosols from gas streams. These vessels combine filtration and coalescence protecting compressors, turbines, and process equipment in oil, gas, and industrial applications.

Dual-Stage Purpose

Gas streams contain both solid particulates and liquid droplets requiring removal. Solid filtration alone misses submicron liquid aerosols. Coalescing captures fine liquid mist conventional separators cannot remove. Combined stages achieve ultra-clean gas.

First Stage Filtration

Cartridge filters remove solid particles - pipe scale, rust, catalyst fines, dirt. Typical removal 3-10 microns depending on element rating. Protects downstream coalescer from solids plugging. Replaceable elements enable maintenance without vessel removal.

Second Stage Coalescence

Coalescing elements agglomerate liquid droplets into larger drops removed by gravity. Captures submicron aerosols 0.3-3 microns conventional separators miss. Achieves outlet liquid loading under 0.1 ppm by weight.

Vessel Configuration

Vertical separator with gas inlet, first stage filter housing, second stage coalescer section, mist eliminator, clean gas outlet, liquid drain collecting coalesced liquids. Sequential staging optimizes purification.

Operating Pressure

Design pressure matches gas system typically 100-1500 psig for pipeline and process applications. Materials rated for operating pressure with safety factors per ASME codes.

Material Selection

Carbon steel for hydrocarbon gas. Stainless steel for corrosive streams or high-purity applications. Filter and coalescer elements in materials resisting gas chemistry. Design prevents contamination of purified gas.

Differential Pressure

DP monitoring across filter and coalescer sections indicates element loading. High DP signals replacement requirement. Separate gauges for each stage enable targeted maintenance. Typical element life 6-18 months.

Applications

Natural gas pipeline filtration, compressor suction protection, turbine fuel gas cleanup, instrument air purification, process gas conditioning, and any application requiring ultra-clean dry gas.

Liquid Removal

Coalesced liquids - condensate, compressor oil, water - drain to collection system. Level-controlled automatic drains remove accumulated liquids. Proper drainage prevents re-entrainment maintaining gas purity.

Performance Specifications

Solid removal to 99.9% of particles above element rating. Liquid aerosol removal to 99.99% achieving under 0.1 ppm outlet loading. Combined efficiency protects sensitive downstream equipment.

Element Selection

Filter elements rated for particle size and dirt-holding capacity. Coalescer elements specified for liquid type and flow rate. Proper selection ensures performance and service life.

Maintenance Access

Quick-opening closures enable element replacement. Minimal downtime during service. Elements stock items for rapid replacement. Simple maintenance procedures.

Performance Benefits

Comprehensive gas purification removing both solids and liquids. Protects expensive equipment from contamination damage. Achieves gas quality specifications for critical applications. Proven two-stage technology.

Construction Standards

Pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII. Filter and coalescer elements per manufacturer specifications. Materials for gas service. Complete documentation with filtration efficiency data.

ERGIL gas filter separators with coalescing provide two-stage purification removing solids and liquid aerosols delivering ultra-clean gas in oil, gas, and industrial applications.
