HIGH-FLOW CARTRIDGE HOUSING

Ultra-High Capacity Single-Element Filtration

ERGIL manufactures high-flow cartridge housings accommodating large-diameter pleated cartridges providing exceptional flow capacity per element. These vessels handle 100-300 GPM per cartridge reducing system complexity and footprint in high-volume liquid filtration.

High-Flow Cartridge Technology

Oversized cartridges 8-16 inches diameter with pleated media construction provide 100-300 square feet surface area per element. Single cartridge replaces 10-30 standard 2.5-inch cartridges. Dramatic reduction in housing count and piping complexity.

Housing Design

Vertical pressure vessel with single large-diameter cartridge position, quick-opening or bolted closure, inlet connection, outlet from filtered liquid, drain valve, lifting davit optional for heavy cartridge handling.

Cartridge Specifications

Typical 40-inch length, 8-16 inch diameter. Polypropylene, polyester, or specialty media pleated around perforated core. Surface area 100-300 sq ft depending on diameter and pleat density. Weighs 30-80 pounds requiring handling equipment.

Flow Capacity

8-inch diameter cartridges handle 100-150 GPM. 12-inch diameter 150-250 GPM. 16-inch diameter 200-300 GPM. Single element replaces multiple standard housings dramatically simplifying systems.

Operating Pressure

Design pressure 150-300 psig. Heavy-duty closure mechanisms handle large cartridge sealing surface. Swing bolt, threaded, or hydraulic closures depending on size and pressure.

Micron Ratings

Available 0.2-100 microns absolute or nominal. Fine ratings for final polishing. Coarse ratings for high-solids pre-filtration. Gradient density cartridges optimize dirt-holding capacity.

Material Construction

Stainless steel 304/316 for pharmaceutical, food, and chemical applications. Carbon steel with coating for water treatment. Sanitary polished finishes for hygienic applications. Materials compatible with cartridge and process fluid.

Differential Pressure

Clean DP 3-8 psi. High surface area maintains low pressure drop at high flows. Typical replacement at 15-25 psi. DP transmitters enable automated monitoring and cartridge life tracking.

Applications

High-volume pharmaceutical process water, beverage production, chemical manufacturing, semiconductor ultrapure water, power plant condensate polishing, industrial process water, and any high-flow filtration application.

Handling Systems

Cartridges 50-80 pounds require mechanical handling. Housing-mounted davit arms lift cartridges during changes. Floor-mounted cranes for multiple housings. Proper handling equipment essential for safety.

Cartridge Replacement

System shutdown or bypass enables housing opening. Davit or hoist removes used cartridge. Inspect housing internals and sealing surfaces. Install new cartridge ensuring proper seating. Close housing and integrity test if required.

Economic Benefits

Single high-flow housing replaces 10-30 standard housings reducing capital cost 40-60%. Dramatically simpler piping and valving. Reduced floor space. Lower maintenance labor with fewer elements to change.

System Simplification

Fewer vessels reduce complexity. Simpler piping manifolds. Fewer valves and instruments. Easier maintenance access. Lower pressure drop through simplified flow path.

Performance Consistency

Pleated media provides uniform filtration throughout cartridge life. High surface area prevents premature plugging. Consistent product quality batch to batch.

Validation Capability

Integrity testing using forward flow or bubble point for sterile applications. Automated test systems available. Documentation for pharmaceutical compliance. Lot traceability for quality assurance.

Performance Benefits

Exceptional single-element flow capacity reduces system complexity. Lower capital and operating costs per gallon filtered. Smaller footprint saves valuable plant space. Proven high-flow technology.

Construction Standards

Pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII. Sanitary design per ASME BPE for pharmaceutical applications. Quick-opening closures per safety codes. Complete documentation with flow capacity and integrity testing specifications.

ERGIL high-flow cartridge housings provide ultra-high capacity single-element filtration reducing system complexity and costs in high-volume industrial and pharmaceutical applications.
