Clean Amine for Optimal Gas Treating Performance
ERGIL manufactures skid-mounted amine filtration packages that remove degradation products, particulates, foam-causing agents, and hydrocarbon contaminants from circulating amine solutions. These integrated systems protect heat exchangers from fouling, maintain solution treating capacity, and extend amine service life in acid gas removal operations.
System Configuration
Complete skid packages include coalescer vessel for hydrocarbon removal, particulate filters with 5-25 micron cartridges, circulation pump, pressure gauges, sample ports, and interconnecting piping. Two-stage filtration captures both liquid contaminants and solid particles. Coalescer removes entrained hydrocarbons and foam stabilizers through gravity separation. Cartridge filters trap suspended iron sulfide, carbon fines, corrosion products, and amine degradation solids.
Filtration Process
Amine diverts from main circulation through the filtration skid at flow rates typically 5-10% of total circulation. Coalescer section agglomerates hydrocarbon droplets allowing separation in collection chamber with automatic or manual drain. Clean amine then flows through cartridge filter stages removing particulates. Differential pressure indicators signal when cartridges require replacement. Filtered amine returns to main system maintaining solution quality continuously.
Equipment Design
Pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII in carbon steel construction. Quick-opening closures enable rapid cartridge replacement during maintenance. Multiple cartridge housing allows high flow capacity with reasonable pressure drop. Coalescer internals use oleophilic media attracting hydrocarbon contaminants. Compact skid footprint minimizes space requirements with factory piping, testing, and documentation.

Natural gas sweetening plants, refinery hydrogen purification, syngas treating, and sour water systems. Particularly important in systems with hydrocarbon carryover from inlet separators, high corrosion rates generating iron sulfide, or amine reclaimers producing filterable solids. Suitable for MEA, DEA, MDEA solutions across 10-500 GPM circulation rates.
