GAS CHILLER PACKAGE

Integrated Cooling Systems for Gas Processing

ERGIL manufactures gas chiller packages that cool natural gas streams for hydrocarbon dew point control, NGL recovery, and process conditioning. These skid-mounted refrigeration systems reduce gas temperature preventing liquid formation in pipelines while recovering valuable condensate in production and processing facilities.

System Design

Complete packages include refrigerant compressor with electric or gas engine driver, gas-refrigerant heat exchangers cooling process gas, air or water-cooled condenser, refrigerant receiver and accumulator, expansion valves, separator vessels, instrumentation, and control panel. Factory-assembled skids arrive tested and ready for installation minimizing field construction time. Propane or mixed refrigerant cycles selected based on target temperatures and application requirements.

Cooling Process

Process gas flows through plate-fin or shell-and-tube heat exchangers where refrigerant evaporation absorbs heat. Gas temperature reduces from ambient to -20°C through -40°C depending on specification, condensing heavy hydrocarbons. Cold separator downstream removes liquids. Heat integration with warm inlet gas improves efficiency by precooling feed and warming product preventing downstream freezing issues while reducing refrigeration duty.

Applications

Pipeline dew point conditioning ensuring gas meets -10°C to -20°C specifications, NGL recovery extracting ethane through pentanes, fuel gas treatment for power generation, and process gas cooling across production facilities, midstream gathering, and gas plants. Handles 5-200 MMSCFD capacities with operating pressures 300-1500 psig serving diverse industry requirements.

Control Systems

PLC automation manages compressor operation, refrigerant levels, temperature setpoints, and safety interlocks. Suction pressure control optimizes refrigerant evaporation. Anti-surge protection prevents compressor damage during low loads. Variable speed drives adapt to changing conditions improving energy efficiency. Remote monitoring enables performance optimization and predictive maintenance reducing downtime.

Energy Efficiency

Optimized refrigeration cycles minimize power consumption per unit of cooling. Heat recovery from compression reduces external heating requirements. Variable capacity control matches refrigeration to actual demand avoiding wasteful operation. Proven designs deliver reliable cooling with typical power requirements 100-500 HP depending on duty and temperature levels.

Construction Standards

Equipment per ASME Section VIII, API, and electrical codes for hazardous areas. Materials selected for low-temperature service with appropriate impact testing. Insulation prevents heat gain and external condensation. Weather-protected enclosures suit outdoor installations. Seismic and wind load design per site requirements. Full factory testing validates performance specifications.

Performance Features

Reliable operation with high-efficiency compressors and heat exchangers. Compact footprint suits space-constrained sites. Modular design allows capacity expansion through parallel units. Proven technology with extensive field application across gas processing, production, and transmission operations worldwide.

ERGIL gas chiller packages deliver dependable process cooling with energy-efficient design ensuring pipeline compliance and optimal condensate recovery economics.
