NITROGEN GAS PRESSURE REDUCING STATION
Controlled Nitrogen Distribution for Industrial Facilities
ERGIL manufactures skid-mounted nitrogen pressure reducing stations that safely reduce high-pressure nitrogen from supply sources to controlled distribution pressures for industrial applications. These engineered systems ensure reliable pressure regulation, overpressure protection, and consistent nitrogen delivery across facility operations.
Purpose and Function
Nitrogen arrives at facilities from bulk storage tanks, tube trailers, or on-site generation systems at pressures ranging from 150 to 3000 psig. Most applications require nitrogen at lower pressures for safe equipment operation, typically 50-150 psig for purging, blanketing, and inerting services. ERGIL pressure reducing stations provide accurate stepdown regulation with redundancy and safety features to prevent overpressure events that could damage equipment or compromise safety.
System Components
Complete skid packages include inlet isolation and filtration, primary pressure regulator sized for flow capacity, monitor regulator providing secondary pressure control and backup protection, relief valves set above maximum allowable downstream pressure, pressure gauges for inlet and outlet monitoring, and slam-shut valve for emergency isolation. All components mounted on structural steel skid with weather protection options.
Regulator Technology
ERGIL selects high-quality pressure regulators based on flow requirements, pressure reduction ratio, and accuracy needs. Spring-loaded or pilot-operated regulators maintain stable outlet pressure despite varying inlet conditions or downstream demand fluctuations. Monitor regulators automatically take over if primary regulator fails, preventing overpressure. Sizing calculations ensure adequate capacity with margin for peak demands.
Safety Features
Pressure relief valves protect downstream piping and equipment from overpressure scenarios. Slam-shut valves close automatically if outlet pressure exceeds setpoint, isolating the system until manually reset. High-pressure alarms provide early warning of abnormal conditions. Optional pressure transmitters enable remote monitoring and automated control integration. All safety devices sized per applicable codes and facility requirements.
Applications
Tank blanketing systems maintaining inert atmospheres in storage vessels, pipeline purging and drying operations, equipment pressure testing, instrument air backup, catalyst regeneration in refineries, reactor inerting in chemical plants, and fire suppression systems. Serves oil and gas facilities, petrochemical plants, power generation, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and manufacturing operations.
Design Standards
Piping and components designed per ASME B31.3 process piping code. Pressure vessels where applicable per ASME Section VIII. Material selection considers nitrogen service temperature and moisture content. Stainless steel or carbon steel construction with appropriate pressure ratings. Seismic bracing and structural supports per local codes. Explosion-proof electrical components for hazardous areas.
Operational Benefits
Reliable pressure control protects downstream equipment and processes. Redundant regulation ensures continuous operation. Minimal maintenance requirements with proven components. Compact skid design simplifies installation and reduces footprint. Factory testing validates performance before shipment. Modular configuration allows future expansion or modification.
Technical Range
Inlet pressures from 150 to 3000 psig, outlet pressures 10 to 200 psig, flow capacities from 100 to 10,000 SCFM depending on application. Temperature range -40°C to 60°C with optional heating for low-temperature service. Multiple outlet zones can be provided with independent pressure control.
ERGIL pressure reducing stations deliver safe, reliable nitrogen distribution with engineered solutions tailored to your facility requirements.
