Diesel Contamination
Diesel fuel contains water from condensation and storage, particulates from handling and tanks, biological growth in stored fuel, rust and scale from tanks and piping, and wax crystals in cold conditions. Contamination damages injection systems and reduces engine performance.
Filter Configuration
Vertical or horizontal pressure vessel with diesel inlet, coarse strainer stage removing large debris, water separator section coalescing and settling free water, fine filter stage capturing particles to 2-10 microns, clean fuel outlet to engines.
Water Separation
Water in diesel causes injector corrosion, microbial growth, and combustion problems. Coalescing elements agglomerate water droplets for gravity separation. Water collection sump with high-level sensor and drain removes accumulated water.
Particulate Filtration
Filter elements rated 2-10 microns absolute remove dirt, rust, biological material, and solid contaminants. Protects high-pressure common rail injectors requiring ultra-clean fuel. Typical efficiency 95-99% at rating.
Operating Pressure
Design pressure 50-150 psig matching fuel transfer and supply pumps. Clean filter differential pressure 2-5 psi. Element replacement required at 15-25 psi preventing fuel starvation.
