CHEMICAL STORAGE TANK (HDPE/GRP LINED)

Corrosion-Resistant Chemical Containment

ERGIL manufactures chemical storage tanks with HDPE or GRP lining providing corrosion protection for water treatment chemicals. These atmospheric vessels safely store acids, caustics, and specialty chemicals protecting carbon steel shells from aggressive chemistry.

Lining Purpose

Sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, and treatment chemicals corrode unprotected steel. HDPE (high-density polyethylene) or GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) linings create chemical barrier allowing carbon steel structural support with chemical resistance.

Tank Construction

Vertical cylindrical atmospheric storage tank. Carbon steel shell provides structural integrity. Internal HDPE or GRP lining bonded or loose-fitted protects from chemical contact. Atmospheric venting prevents pressure buildup.

HDPE Lining

High-density polyethylene sheets heat-welded forming seamless liner. Typical thickness 3-6mm depending on chemical and temperature. Resists acids, caustics, salts at temperatures to 60C. Cost-effective broad chemical resistance.

GRP Lining

Glass-reinforced plastic resin system sprayed or hand-laid forming monolithic barrier. Customized resin formulation for specific chemicals. Higher temperature capability than HDPE to 80-100C. Excellent chemical resistance.

Chemical Compatibility

HDPE resists most acids and caustics at moderate concentration and temperature. GRP formulated for specific chemicals including oxidizers and high-temperature service. Material selection critical matching chemical properties.

Capacity Range

Typical 500-50,000 gallon capacity for water treatment applications. Larger tanks for bulk chemical storage. Sizing based on consumption rate and delivery frequency maintaining adequate inventory.

Material Selection

Carbon steel shell per API 650 atmospheric storage standards. HDPE or GRP lining material certified for chemical service. Proper venting prevents vacuum or overpressure. Foundation for tank weight plus liquid load.

Applications

Sulfuric acid storage for pH control, caustic storage for neutralization, hydrochloric acid for regeneration, antiscalant and biocide storage, coagulant and polymer storage, and any water treatment chemical requiring corrosion protection.

Vent Systems

Atmospheric vent sized preventing vacuum during withdrawal or overpressure during filling. Chemical-resistant vent materials. Flame arresters where flammable vapors present. Proper design prevents tank collapse or rupture.

Level Indication

External level gauge or ultrasonic measurement monitors inventory. High and low-level alarms manage chemical ordering. Level transmitters enable automated reordering systems.

Secondary Containment

Spill containment dike surrounding tank per environmental regulations. Capacity 110% of largest tank. Prevents chemical release to environment. Leak detection in containment.

Pump Integration

Chemical transfer pumps take suction from tank feeding treatment systems. Materials compatible with stored chemical. Proper NPSH consideration prevents cavitation.

Performance Benefits

Protects carbon steel from chemical corrosion extending tank life. Cost-effective versus solid plastic or alloy construction. Proven lining technology with long service history.

Construction Standards

Tank per API 650 atmospheric storage standards. Lining per manufacturer specifications and chemical compatibility data. Containment per environmental regulations. Complete documentation with material certifications.

ERGIL chemical storage tanks with HDPE/GRP lining provide corrosion-resistant chemical containment for water treatment applications.
