CPI + DISSOLVED GAS FLOTATION PACKAGE
Two-Stage Oil Removal for Process and Produced Water
Ergil manufactures CPI and dissolved gas flotation packages that clean oily water in two stages. A corrugated plate interceptor removes free oil and settleable solids by gravity. A dissolved gas flotation cell then lifts fine oil droplets to the surface with microbubbles of inert gas or fuel gas. The combined skid brings oil-in-water down to discharge or reinjection limits in a small footprint and with safe gas handling in hydrocarbon areas.
Stage 1: CPI
Water flows between inclined corrugated plates. Oil droplets rise to the plate underside and gather at the top. Solids slide to the bottom. Free oil is skimmed, solids go to the sludge hopper.
Stage 2: Dissolved Gas Flotation
A portion of treated water is saturated with gas under pressure, then released into the flotation cell. Microbubbles attach to fine oil droplets and carry them to the surface. A skimmer collects the float.
Why Gas Instead of Air
Nitrogen or fuel gas replaces air in hydrocarbon service. This removes oxygen from the cell, limits scale and corrosion, and reduces explosion risk.
System Components
CPI plate pack, oil skimmer, sludge hopper, flotation tank, saturator, recycle pump, gas supply, chemical dosing pumps, float collection tank, instruments, skid piping.
Chemical Pretreatment
Coagulant, flocculant or demulsifier improves removal of emulsified oil. Dosing and mixing before the flotation cell. Jar testing guides selection.
Performance
CPI removes free oil down to roughly 100 mg/L or better. Flotation reduces oil in water to about 10–30 mg/L, depending on feed and chemicals. Performance guaranteed against agreed feed data.
Operating Parameters
Recycle flow commonly 20–50% of inlet. Saturator pressure of several bar. Surface loading and residence time set by droplet size and temperature.
Float Handling
Skimmed oil flows to the slop tank or closed drain. Blanket gas and vent line sent to a safe location. Level control keeps skimming stable.
Materials
Carbon steel with coating for general service. Stainless steel or duplex for corrosive produced water. Plates in stainless steel or fiber-reinforced polymer.
Applications
Offshore and onshore oil production, refineries, petrochemical plants, terminals, power plants, ballast and bilge water, and industrial wastewater with oil.
Automation
Level, flow and pressure control. Automatic skimmer and sludge discharge. Local panel or DCS integration.
Construction Standards
ASME Section VIII, API 421 guidance for oil–water separation, hydrotest, FAT, documentation. ATEX options for hazardous areas.
Ergil CPI and dissolved gas flotation packages give plants dependable oil removal in a compact, factory-tested system that stays safe in hydrocarbon service.
