CONDENSER TANK FOR DEAERATOR
Steam Condensate Recovery for Boiler Feedwater
ERGIL manufactures condenser tanks that collect and cool steam condensate before deaerator feed preheating boiler feedwater systems. These vessels recover flash steam, reduce temperature, and provide surge capacity ensuring efficient condensate return maximizing energy recovery in power generation and industrial steam facilities.
Tank Function
Hot condensate from process equipment and steam traps contains flash steam requiring separation before deaerator feed. Condenser tanks provide volume for flash steam disengagement, cooling through atmospheric pressure reduction or heat exchange, and surge capacity buffering varying condensate returns. Cooled condensate feeds deaerator or returns to boiler improving thermal efficiency.
Vessel Design
Horizontal or vertical atmospheric tank with condensate inlet, flash steam separation section venting to atmosphere or low-pressure recovery, liquid cooling zone, outlet to deaerator or feedwater system, overflow protection, and level instrumentation. ERGIL sizes tanks based on condensate flow rate and required cooling capacity.
Flash Steam Handling
High-pressure condensate flashes when pressure reduces to atmospheric. Flash steam at 2-5 psig vents to atmosphere or routes to low-pressure recovery systems. Proper vapor space prevents liquid carryover. Vent sizing accommodates maximum flash rates during system variations.
Temperature Reduction
Flash cooling through pressure reduction provides primary temperature drop from 100-150°C to 90-100°C. Supplemental cooling using makeup water injection or heat exchange achieves final temperature suitable for deaerator feed typically 80-95°C. Proper cooling maximizes deaerator efficiency.
Material Selection
Carbon steel construction suitable for condensate and flash steam service. Stainless steel for corrosive condensate containing treatment chemicals or contaminants. Design accommodates thermal cycling during load variations. Proper venting prevents vacuum formation during cooldown.
Applications
Power plant condensate collection before deaerators, industrial boiler feedwater systems, process steam condensate recovery, and any facility requiring condensate cooling and flash steam separation. Serves facilities with steam generation 10,000-500,000 lb/hr.
Level Control
Level transmitters control makeup water addition or condensate transfer maintaining inventory. High-level protection prevents overflow. Low-level alarms indicate insufficient condensate return. Integration with deaerator controls coordinates feedwater system operation.
Energy Recovery
Flash steam recovery to low-pressure headers maximizes energy utilization. Condensate return reduces makeup water and treatment costs. Efficient cooling minimizes deaerator steam consumption. Proven technology improving boiler system thermal efficiency.
Performance Benefits
Recovers valuable condensate reducing boiler makeup requirements. Separates flash steam enabling low-pressure recovery. Cools condensate optimizing deaerator performance. Simple atmospheric vessel with minimal maintenance. Essential component in efficient steam systems.
Construction Standards
Atmospheric tank design per API 650 or equivalent standards. Vent sizing prevents vacuum or overpressure. Proper drainage and overflow protection. Complete documentation with thermal calculations and capacity specifications.
ERGIL condenser tanks deliver effective condensate cooling and flash steam separation maximizing energy recovery and boiler feedwater system efficiency.
