FUEL GAS SCRUBBER
Contaminant Removal for Clean Combustion
ERGIL manufactures fuel gas scrubbers that remove particulates, liquids, H₂S, and contaminants from natural gas fuel streams ensuring clean combustion in turbines, boilers, and engines. These vessels protect equipment from fouling, corrosion, and emissions violations through filtration and chemical absorption.
Scrubbing Function
Pipeline gas contains iron oxide scale, pipe debris, compressor oil carryover, condensed hydrocarbons, and trace H₂S affecting combustion quality and equipment reliability. Scrubbers remove solids through filtration, separate liquids via coalescence, and absorb acid gases using chemical media ensuring fuel meets turbine manufacturer specifications and emissions limits.
Vessel Design
Vertical configuration with inlet distributor, filtration stages removing particles above 5-10 microns, coalescing section separating liquid droplets, optional chemical media bed absorbing H₂S, and outlet section with mist eliminator. ERGIL sizes scrubbers based on gas flow rate, contaminant loading, and required outlet quality.
Filtration Technology
Cartridge filters capture rust, scale, and solid particles protecting turbine fuel nozzles from erosion and plugging. Coalescing elements remove oil mist and hydrocarbon droplets. Chemical adsorbent beds reduce H₂S to below 0.5 ppm meeting turbine fuel specifications. Replaceable elements enable maintenance without vessel removal.
Applications
Gas turbine fuel conditioning for power generation, industrial boiler fuel cleaning, reciprocating engine fuel treatment, process heater fuel gas, and any combustion application requiring contaminant removal. Serves power plants, refineries, chemical facilities, and manufacturing operations with flow rates 1,000-100,000 SCFH.
Control Features
Differential pressure monitoring across filter elements indicates loading requiring replacement. Liquid level switches activate automatic drains. Temperature monitoring ensures proper operating conditions. Integration with fuel gas systems enables automated operation with minimal supervision.
Material Selection
Carbon steel or stainless steel construction suitable for natural gas service. Filter housings accommodate element replacement. Materials rated for operating pressures 50-600 psig and temperatures -20°C to 60°C. Corrosion protection for trace contaminants in fuel gas.
Performance Benefits
Protects expensive turbines and burners from contaminant damage extending equipment life. Reduces emissions through cleaner combustion. Prevents unplanned shutdowns from fuel quality issues. Simple maintenance with cartridge replacement. Proven filtration technology with long service life.
Construction Standards
Design per ASME Section VIII with materials suitable for fuel gas service. Electrical systems for hazardous Class I Division 2 classification. Proper element sizing meeting flow and efficiency requirements. Complete documentation with filtration efficiency specifications.
ERGIL fuel gas scrubbers deliver dependable contaminant removal ensuring clean fuel supply protecting combustion equipment and maintaining reliable power generation and heating operations.
