SS VESSEL (STAINLESS STEEL)
Corrosion-Resistant Vessels for Process Applications
ERGIL manufactures stainless steel pressure and atmospheric vessels for corrosive process streams, hygienic food and pharmaceutical applications, and services requiring superior corrosion resistance. These vessels utilize 304, 316, or duplex stainless grades ensuring long-term reliability in demanding chemical and sanitary environments.
Material Advantages
Stainless steel resists corrosion from acids, chlorides, caustics, and oxidizing environments where carbon steel fails. Grade 304 suits general corrosion resistance. Grade 316 with molybdenum handles chlorides and acids. Duplex grades combine strength and corrosion resistance for severe service. Surface finishes from mill to electropolished meet process and sanitary requirements.
Vessel Applications
Chemical process vessels handling corrosive streams, food and beverage storage tanks requiring sanitary construction, pharmaceutical reactors and receivers meeting cGMP standards, water treatment systems, pulp and paper liquor vessels, and any application where corrosion, contamination, or hygiene demands stainless construction.
Design Configuration
Horizontal or vertical pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks, process reactors, surge drums, and specialty vessels designed per ASME Section VIII or atmospheric tank standards. Capacities from 50 to 50,000 gallons. Operating pressures from full vacuum to 600 psig. Temperatures from cryogenic to 400°C depending on grade.
Sanitary Design
Food, pharmaceutical, and biotech applications require sanitary construction with polished surfaces, flush-mounted nozzles, sanitary fittings, spray balls for CIP, proper drainage, and documentation meeting FDA, 3-A, or ASME BPE standards. Electropolished finishes achieve Ra 15-25 microinch surface smoothness.
Fabrication Quality
TIG welding produces clean corrosion-resistant welds. Proper heat treatment relieves stress and restores corrosion resistance. Passivation removes free iron from surfaces. Hydrostatic testing validates integrity. Radiographic examination per code requirements. Complete material traceability.
Material Grades
304/304L for general corrosion resistance in food, pharmaceutical, and chemical service. 316/316L with molybdenum for chloride environments, acids, and severe corrosion. Duplex 2205 for high-strength corrosion applications. Grade selection based on process chemistry, temperature, and stress conditions.
Performance Benefits
Superior corrosion resistance extends service life eliminating replacement costs. Smooth surfaces prevent product contamination and facilitate cleaning. Meets stringent sanitary and regulatory requirements. Maintains product purity in sensitive applications. Proven material for demanding service.
Construction Standards
Design per ASME Section VIII for pressure vessels or API 650 for atmospheric tanks. Sanitary vessels per ASME BPE or 3-A standards. Materials with full mill test reports and traceability. Welding per AWS D1.6 for stainless steel. Complete documentation supporting regulatory compliance.
Economic Considerations
Higher initial cost offset by extended life, reduced maintenance, and elimination of coatings or linings. Critical for applications where contamination or corrosion failure creates unacceptable risks or costs.
ERGIL stainless steel vessels deliver reliable corrosion resistance and sanitary construction serving chemical processing, food, pharmaceutical, and hygiene-critical applications.
