Rigorous multi-stage prequalification and on-site assessment confirm ERGIL’s quality systems, engineering capability, and manufacturing excellence for one of the Middle East’s most demanding operators.

ISTANBUL, TÜRKİYE — ERGIL is proud to announce that it has been recognized as an approved vendor by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the Sultanate of Oman’s leading exploration and production company. The approval follows an intensive prequalification process and a detailed multi-day on-site vendor assessment of ERGIL’s manufacturing facility in Mersin, Türkiye, conducted by PDO’s specialist audit team.

PDO operates one of the most rigorous vendor qualification regimes in the global oil and gas industry. Approval is granted only after an exhaustive evaluation of a manufacturer’s quality management system, design and engineering capability, manufacturing and testing infrastructure, procurement controls, personnel competency, and HSE performance — measured against PDO’s own specifications alongside international standards. Earning this status places ERGIL among a select group of manufacturers qualified to supply PDO’s operations.

Scope of Approval

The assessment covered ERGIL’s product portfolio across storage tank safety equipment and pipeline equipment categories, including:

  • Storage tank safety equipment: Breather valves (pressure/vacuum relief valves), emergency vents, gauge hatches, and flame arrestors designed to API 2000 and EN ISO 28300.
  • Floating roof systems: Floating roof seals, floating roof drains, and floating suction units engineered to API 650.
  • Pipeline equipment: Scraper trap end closures, pig launcher and receiver fabrication, and pigging system components designed to ASME B31.4/B31.8 and ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1.

A Comprehensive, Standards-Based Assessment

Over three days, PDO’s multi-disciplinary audit team examined every dimension of ERGIL’s operations at its 40,000 m² fabrication facility, assessing the company against ISO 9001:2015, API 650, API 2000, ASME BPVC Section VIII, and PDO’s own engineering specifications and vendor governance framework. The assessment spanned:

  • Manufacturing and technical capability, from material receipt through fabrication, testing, and dispatch
  • Quality management system, internal audit program, NCR management, and KPI-driven continuous improvement
  • Design control, including engineering software validation and product design verification
  • Inspection and testing facilities, NDT personnel qualification, and calibration systems
  • Procurement and sub-vendor management, with performance scoring and controlled vendor lists
  • Training, competency management, and human resources governance
  • Health, safety, and environmental management across all workshops

The audit team highlighted several of ERGIL’s distinctive strengths: a dedicated R&D center operated in association with a university, a fully established quality management system with robust procurement follow-up, and a fabrication facility powered entirely by renewable (solar PV) energy — a rare combination of engineering depth and sustainability in heavy manufacturing.

Commitment Behind the Certificate

„PDO approval is not a certificate you apply for — it is a standard you demonstrate, in your workshop, in your documentation, and in your people. Our team worked with tremendous dedication through every stage of the prequalification and assessment, and this recognition reflects who we are as engineers and manufacturers. To our customers across Oman and the wider region: this is our quality, independently verified by one of the industry’s most demanding operators.“

— Rahmi Oktay Altunergil, ERGIL

Vendor assessments of this depth do not end at the exit meeting. ERGIL treated every finding and observation raised during the process as an opportunity to strengthen its systems further — initiating root cause analysis and corrective actions in line with its continuous improvement culture. It is this responsiveness, as much as the underlying capability, that distinguishes a qualified supplier from a trusted long-term partner.

What This Means for Our Customers

For operators, EPC contractors, and end users in Oman and across the region, ERGIL’s PDO approved vendor status provides:

  • Independently verified quality: Products and systems assessed against PDO specifications, Shell DEPs, and international codes by an independent operator audit team.
  • End-to-end capability: Design, fabrication, testing, and after-sales support from a single facility, with full traceability from raw material to dispatch.
  • Simplified procurement: A streamlined path to specifying ERGIL equipment on PDO projects through registered AVME/PGSC product categories, supported locally in Oman.
  • Regional trust: A vendor whose qualification portfolio already includes approvals and registrations with leading operators and certification to ASME, ATEX, EN, and ISO standards.
